Festival Branding // Bezalel Academy (third year)
Different Formats
This project started with each of us choosing a location, and my choice was Ben Gurion Airport.
Later on, we were asked to create a cinema/dance/music festival inspired by the location.
The assignment included creating a program for the festival and branding it with a logo,
3 posters, tickets, merchandise etc.
I named my festival "Departures Film Festival" and branded it as a travel movie festival.
It was scheduled to screen 12 films, each taking place in a different destination around the globe.
The films shown would depict a traveler's exciting journey, and take the audience along for the ride.
My inspiration for the festival's branding was taken from the airport world:
The colours and digital font reference the flight board. The simple and universal
Helvetica font is taken from the airport signs.
In order to integrate these elements into the cinema world,
I chose a filmstrip (at its rawest form) to escort the entire branding.
Each of the elements in the design were tilted 6 degrees upwards, imitating a departing airplane.
