"Women": 3 Posters for a fictitious event // Bezalel Academy (second year)
500*700 mm
For this project, we were asked to select an architectural structure in Jerusalem.
After we visited the site and researched it, we were requested to give it a
new purpose as a cultural institution. Then, we were asked to create a logo for our new institution,
and lastly, as presented here, we created 3 posters for a fictitious event that would take place there.
I chose the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, and turned it into an Ethiopian art gallery.
I named the gallery “Menelik” after the first emperor of Ethiopia. Menelik is said
to be the son of king Solomon and of Makeda, the Ethiopian queen of Sheba.
The event I chose to promote is a photography exhibition named “Women”.
It presents photographs taken by 3 Ethiopian artists, and deals with the
position of women in the Ethiopian society.
The Logo, presented in the bottom right of each poster, is inspired by the Orthodox Church's architecture.
The logo is also located in the center of each poster, and embedded in it a photograph
by one of the three artists. Each poster shows the exhibition's title in one
of three languages: Amharic, Hebrew & English.
